China-CELAC Ministerial | Forum on Agriculture

2024-07-04

The China-Celac forum opens the floor to dialogue and cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries. This event brings together Agricultural Ministers from the region and the reason why it takes place in China is because the country is one of the biggest consumers of Latin American produce.

The China-CELAC forum was hosted in Weifang—home of three of our production facilities and one of our Research and Development Centers. Besides ministers, Alejandro Hernan Crespo, our LaTam Regional Head, was invited to present our companies’ strategic plans and projections for the region.

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), family farming, which includes small farmers, accounts for approximately 80% of all agricultural holdings in the region—highlighting the importance of policies and initiatives aimed at supporting and empowering them.

Ministers of agriculture from countries from Latin America and the Caribbean got together to debate solutions to help develop small farmers and the current needs the sector faces.
